The New York Times agrees with CCAP! At least that's how I read this headline: Students Paying More and Getting Less, Study Says
Higher Ed in the Stimulus: "$15.6 billion to increase the Pell grant by $500" Good. "$6 billion for higher education modernization." Not so good. This reminds me of the technology fees I kept paying to universities in years past. The rest of the world uses technology to increase efficiency, but apparently, not higher ed, where for some reason technology and modernization always seem to add to costs rather than subtracting from them.

I suggest that the wonderboy visit a modern hospital or aircraft carrier and see whether technology is reducing or adding to costs.
Comparing a hospital and aircraft carrier to higher ed doesn't wash. Just another attempt at diverting attention from higher ed to an un-related subject.
But if we turn it around, can we say that since an aircraft carrier or hospital (allegedly) saves money by implementing technology, all others save money? And higher ed therefore, must be saving too?
I don't believe this kind of thinking would even pass for logic in a philosophy class. I don't know, maybe Descartes could twist it into a pretzel and make it work.
I recently accompanied my father to the hospital for surgery. Every person it seemed, had a computer on their desk. Yet my father had to fill out a multitude of forms (paper & pen) so the clerks and others could take the information from the paperwork and put it in the computer.
I could go on all day like this, but I think my point is clear enough.
